Inertia is growing and we are looking for an Industrial Design Intern to join our product development team for a 4, 8 or 12 month placement. In the role, you will work closely with our amazing clients, engineers, industrial designers and our manufacturing team to deliver an outstanding product and product development experience.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Industrial Designer/Project Lead, the Industrial Design Intern will:

  • be a pillar for our design activities and in return we’ll help you establish yourself as an industrial designer and be a foundation for your design career
  • participate in many creative activities and day-to-day tasks that will support the engineering, design staff, and project leads, and contribute directly to projects
  • be expected to contribute ideas and solutions through sketching, model making, visual and verbal communications skills and 3D CAD modeling
  • participate in projects that are performed in a group, sometimes small, sometimes large where you are expected to contribute a positive and collaborative attitude

You may also:

  • perform product / market / user research
  • participate in customer meetings
  • collaborate with the Inertia team and vendors to ensure a seamless customer experience and outstanding results
  • other duties as may be assigned


Who we are looking for

You:

  • are a current student in the field of Industrial Design who has successfully completed at least three years of your studies and you want real world experience
  • have strong competency in SolidWorks (solid and surface modeling), Photoshop and Illustrator
  • have empathy for users
  • have appreciation for production processes and materials
  • are enthusiastic, personable, flexible, have a can-do attitude and work well in diverse groups
  • are known to have a high standard of excellence, craftsmanship, and pride in your work
  • have work that earns praise from your peers and accolades from your professors; and a stunning portfolio to back it up
